Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
